Great Diet,
Things are going great! I have actually lost weight however I was given this diet by my doctor because of my high cholesterol. I spent a lot of time at the grocery store looking at the labels this week, but now that I'm getting use to what to buy its getting easier. I do not eat breakfast so some of the breakfast meals I have substituted for my lunch and dinner. This is not as bad as I thought it would be - the food actually taste great!

We're finally feeling better and have been on the diet for almost two weeks. Eating better gave me the push I needed to start exercising on a more regular basis (eating better and the fact that spring is almost here and I won't be able to hide under sweaters and jackets) so things are going well. I've lost about three pounds and am looking forward to losing more. I don't feel deprived on this "diet" like I have on other diets. Thanks for your help.

Hello Pat,

I just wanted to give you my 1st week's progress report on the High
Protein Vegetarian Plan. The plan itself is very easy and the recipes
are simple.(thank you). I like the shopping list a lot - my suggestion
would be to maybe group the items (i.e.) veggies/fresh herbs all in
one section, dry herbs in a section, all the frozen...etc. I found
myself all over the grocery store! It wasn't a huge deal, just a bit
overwhelming. At the beginning I had a few headaches - I think it was
due to carb withdrawls! Now for the exciting news....I lost 8 pounds
in 6 days! It was the encouragement I needed. I'm trying to lose 30lbs
for my September wedding which is my main motivator, other motivators
include my fiance, family, friends, and co-workers. I believe that
when people know your goals - whatever they may be - it keeps you on
track. I'm looking forward to week 2! I'm even getting used to the
veggie juice ...sigh...Talk to you soon!

I love the menu.  Thank you so much.  This is how I love to eat.  The apricot muffins are great and the Lentil soup is the first recipe for lentils I've ever like,.  The soup was thick when reheated, I added a small amount of barbeque sauce and they tasted like baked beans.

I am 62 years old, F, 5ft 3 in, and weigh 140.  I have been stuck at 140 pounds for a year and can't lose the 5 pounds I'd like to get off. Part of the reason was late night snacking.

I have just completed 3 weeks ( a full 21 days ) of the Atkins diet plan you have posted on site for me, I have lost 18 pounds in 3 weeks I am starting my fourth week on mon the 27th of sept, my goal is to lose a total of 40 lbs,  almost half way there. I feel great much more energy, I am 6' 3" and a former 235 down 18 pounds from that my goal is to hit between 190 and 200 lbs and stay there, with this plan it surely is easy watching what you eat is just learning a new habit, never once was I hungry. I have avidly been working out for 25 yrs and still continue my workout routine during this loss of weight.

Sorry I did not reply sooner. I am doing very well as I
finish week three on the Atkins Diet. I've lost about 10lbs. Today I almost
fell back when I saw the scale enter into the 150lb zone. I
have not gone there since elementary school. It's an
awesome feeling, and very encouraging.

This plan has been a lot easier than I thought it would be.
My cravings are almost non-existent, and I don't feel
hungry all the time. It's been wonderful. Just what I

I just want to tell you that I started your diet in September 03 and in the first 6 months I reached my goal. I lost 15 plus pounds and have kept it off. I have changed my eating habits and still enjoy the foods I love, like pasta, occasionally with no effects. I highly recommend your diet.     I have been on your Zone diet for 7 months and have lost the 20 pounds I wanted to lose!  I can't thank you enough for making this life style change so easy and healthy.  I seem to be able to sustain this weight loss and my energy level is high.  I have a sense that my metabolism itself has changed and that I no longer gain weight at the rate I was before.  Is this accurate?  Is that an effect of making this change in my eating habits?

I am not a drinker so havent added the wine but investigated and found out you can get the same health benefits from grape juice so I am drinking that with my evening meal. Pat you would not believe the great results I have received since I started on your High Protein Vegetarian Quick Weight Lost Diet.  My weight when I started was 180lbs today is starting my 4th week and I weigh 165 lbs.  It has been years since my scale has stopped on that number.  I had almost forgotton that my scale went that low.  I must add that I have been walking 1 mile three times a week or I would ride my bike if I don't walk.

Pat, Just a quick note to let you know that I have lost 9 pounds after not quite three weeks on the zone.  Actually my clothes feel like it is more than 9 pounds but that's all that the scale says.  But the most important thing is that I am feeling so good!  I am not really even tempted to cheat because the junk food has lost its appeal to me and real food is tasting so good that there is no reason to crave anything else.  Everyone at work keeps saying how energetic  and happy I seem and I have to stop and think why because the zone has been so easy to follow and stay on that I almost forget that I am doing something new.  Can't wait to see how great I feel after finishing week six!

We've have had wonderful results and have referred several people to the site. If we have completed the maintenance program, let me give you the final results. I started on the High Protein Vegi program at 132 lbs ... I am now at 116 lbs. I have held steady at that weight for 3 weeks now.   Jim started out on the High Protein Vegi program at 198 lbs and now is at 168 lbs. He looks great and feels better. He will resume his weight training most likely next week. He wanted to concentrate of shedding the fat first.
 
 I wish I had taken before and after pictures, but I was so upset with my appearance I didn't want to be photographed. Jim does have a before picture and will wait until he reaches his body fat goal before taking his after. Perhaps we can send you those when he meets his goal.

 Thanks.  I may it through a whole day without dipping into the hospital chocolate.  I work at a hospital and closely with two departments who dole out all kinds of chocolate.  My favorite is dark chocolate.  Okay,  I am a chocoholic.  However, I made those Cocoa balls and they were great--I only had one.  In fact everything I have made so far has been really good.  The quiches were a God send. I was in a rush this morning and I am glad I made them the night before.  Guess what I am saying is I think I can live with this diet.  Not sure about the boy friend.

 Thanks for week 3 meal plans.
I have been doing fairly well on my diet - I've lost 12 pounds in the first two weeks!
 I am very pleased about that - I've had to take my trouser belt in by two notches!
Also I am not feeling as tired as I used too - so if this is what I feel like after losing 1 stone then wait till I've lost 35 pounds!
 Trouble is I'll have to buy a new wardrobe of clothes...
 This is all without doing too much exercise - it's a bit difficult for me at present - I have slight arthritis in my back and also cartilage problems with both knees. I should think the weight loss will help both those problems.

Starting week three Mon. but the first two week I lost 10lbs. Never before had I been on a diet and not been hungry. I am a  58 year old man at 275lbs  5ft 6in and still gaining weight. Out of control sort of. Other diets never worked and I have try all.
 1200 to 1400 cals. a day was what I eat. Lots of energy so I start walking to the music tapes in the house one mile a day, second week two miles and now 3 miles a day at only 108 beats a minute.

Dear Pat,

When I ordered the 'Zone' on line ( for the meal planning and support) I had already been in the Zone for over a week. I bought Dr. Sears's books: A Week in the Zone and the Anti aging Zone.  I was tired all the time, unable to sleep due to a constant feeling of anxiety and was having difficulty concentrating. I know I have a busy lifestyle, but have always had enough energy for the things I needed to do, until the last five years or so.

I would be almost too tired to drag myself to work even though I was going to bed earlier and earlier. I saw the premier of Pulse where the Zone was compared to two other famous "diet plans". The woman using the Zone method lost the most and felt the best.
I was only ten to twelve pounds over the weight I feel most comfortable being, but I thought I would give it a try. In less than two weeks, I lost four pounds, but more importantly, I feel almost like a new person. I feel like years have been lifted from me. I thought I was getting carpal tunnel or arthritis. I have hardly any pain and energy to burn. I am so pleased. Also, I haven't been hungry nor do I crave carbs ( chips and dips were my weakness). I wish I could personally thank Dr Sears for the change in my life. I do not see me going back to my old way of eating. My assistant at work is also in the Zone and has had similar experiences to mine.  She told me her husband said she is much easier to live with now.

Thanks so much for the diets that you give us.  I had read the book and had trouble figuring just how much to eat.  So I saw your advertisement and bought the meal plans.  I am 5'2" tall and weighed 150 pounds when I started.  Eight weeks later I now weigh 128 pound and have dropped 2-3 dress sizes.  I always wore large, now I wear a small.  My skirts were 14, now I got an 8.  My jeans were 14, but now they are a 10.

hungry all the time.  I get hungry, of course, but it's usually right
around snack time!  I'm really enjoying this diet, even the exercise part.

I am excited. I have tried fad diets, e diets, weight watchers 3 times. 
I have some medical problems which slows my metabolism and i always seemed to
be hungry. I just wanted a "taste" of this and that.  I started the zone on
Tuesday and have lost 3 lbs!!  I can't believe it.  I did not do this in I 1/2
yrs in weight watchers.  All that money!  I do not get hungry at all. 
My stomach has gone down and my pants are looser. I bought some zone bars and
they are good.

I just wanted to drop a line and let you know how great I feel. 
I'm almost finished with week six, (ends Monday and today is Friday). 

I started out weighing 192.0 pounds.  So far I have lost 13.2 pounds (aiming for 14 by weeks end) and currently weigh 178.8.  I have gone down two sizes from a 16 to a 12. (I can't remember the last time I wore a size 12.)  I find myself going into the 'normal' stores just to try on something only to see if it fits.  I'm having a REALLY hard time not buying loads of clothes. 

I have to tell you what happened at the mall last week.  I went into Burdines women's department, where I have been buying my clothes for as long as I can remember.  I wanted some new workout clothes so I tried on the smallest size sweatpants they had (1X) - they were way too big.  I approached the sales lady and asked her if they had any sweatpants in a smaller size.  She directed me to the misses department.  I looked at her stunned.  I had never shopped in the misses department before and found that I was quite intimidated by the thought.  She, on the other hand, smiled at me and asked if I had recently lost weight.  I told her I had and ended up telling her about the Zone and your website, even going so far as to write it down for her.  She wished me luck and I proceeded downstairs to the misses dept.  I found the same brand of sweatpants and ended up purchasing a size L (not the XL ) and probably could have gotten away with the size M but I kept thinking it was too good to be true. 

I've decided to repeat the entire 7 weeks again and I'm also thinking of purchasing the new software so I can continued beyond the 14 weeks.

Thanks for your interest in my progress.  I dropped 7 lbs. the first two weeks on the "Vegetarian High Protein Quick Weight Loss Diet" without feeling hungry or tired.  

 
I've always loved to exercise, so that's not an issue.   I've been a regular gym rat for a long time - kickboxing, step aerobics, cardio machines, and I just added regular strength training which up to this point I have only done intermittently.  I hate strength training, but recognize the benefit especially as I push closer to my 4th decade. Eek. 
 
I'm now back into my size 4 summer clothes, though a bit snugly. Hopefully a few more weeks and I will prevent a total wardrobe replacement. This is a very sensible meal plan with quick recipes and easy to find foods. I'm very pleased.

I love this, all the recipes are wonderful, like the ones you could get from some of the 5 star rated restaurant. I really look forward to getting up in the morning and eating, Everyone has notice the weight that I have lost already. My nurses uniform fit much better and I want to thank-you, I'm getting back to 130lbs, and going to look good in my bathing suit this year. I believe that I almost have my fitness trainer open to the Zone program.  At
first, he assumed it was another "high" protein diet, which it is not.  I'm
actually eating much more fruits & veggies than I did before.  I had worked
out with him already for 8 weeks & not losing much weight.  Then, when I
started the Zone program, things started changing!  As I've said before, 
my clothes are much looser & people are noticing.  
Last night at the gym, I had 3 people approach to
comment how much they could tell & wondered what I'm doing. 

Anyway, I want to express my 110% belief & faith in the Zone program!  I
don't look at it as a "diet," for, I really feel I can be satisfied eating
this way for life.  It is actually more healthy than any eating pattern I've
tried, and I'm not having nutty, insane cravings for sugar.  My trainer still
cannot believe the intake of fat in the program, but I'm trying to convince
him the proof is in the pudding!!   I'm getting great results!!

Today I am on the last day of the first two weeks and feel very successful.

The reasons I tried your diet were many!   My last visit to the
doctor was not a pleasant one. My weight was 189, my glucose was 168, my
cholesterol was 209 with medication, and my triglycerides were 559.  
I returned to the doctor today after being on your diet for 4 weeks with a
new blood test.   I'm happy to report the following: weight 184, glucose
116, cholesterol168, triglycerides 235. 
In the 7+ years I've been keeping record , this is the best report I've ever had!!!

Just for the record it's six pounds in less then one month. Believe me I can feel every one.  Actually compared to what I was doing before (about 1/2 pound per week if I was lucky) this is fast.  I wish I could lose 9 pounds in one week like I did when I was 25, but that was with 900
calories per day, mostly water weight and it didn't stay off. I really
don't feel as though I'm dieting.  I just feel like you're re-directing
my eating habits. The fact that you're telling me what to eat and when
is what seems to be helping me the most right now.  I don't have to
spend all my time thinking and planning everything, like I used to.
Hopefully this will eventually become second nature to me for when I
have to do it on my own.

Things are going well with my diet.  I'm up to around 150-153lb range
consistently.  I have been doing a lot of endurance training and racing.  My
energy level is high, which was a major reason for joining this diet program.

I'm also pleased to see a weight increase even though I have increased my
training regimen.  Maintaining my weight was my goal here but to see gains is
absolutely wonderful.  It must be lean mass because there doesn't seem to be
a bit of fat on me.  The pay off has been a first place finish in a triathlon
two weeks ago!  I plan on keeping this diet in the off season too and know I
will see the gains I want in lean body mass when my endurance training slows
down. 

The diet is definitely worthwhile, but knowing you actually read and respond to
my e-mail, makes it that much better.
